I had used shop towels previously but these mats are game-changers. They are easy to clean and provide great traction for the chicks. They actually walk up the mat when I am changing them out for cleaning. Get extra.. it makes clean up so much easier.

A game changer

These mats are a real game changer.
Was glad I bought a few extra though the ones that are included are incredibly helpful. They are a little tough to maneuver out, but that is actually helpful (no sliding birds either) - you can be jiggling them to make sure any 'extra' falls through the grid into the waste catchment area.

Almost perfect

I have been using these brooder mats for several months. They give the birds good footing when at hatchling size until a cpl weeks old. First 3 to 5 days I put a layer of paper towels on top. Makes daily cleaning very easy. Then I use the mat only after that until feet are large enough to stand firm on grating. They do a good job. If they were more flexible they would be better as far as removing them without spilling the dried ****. Perhaps more rubbery and less stiff. But I’m happy with them and very happy with hatching time products.

Worth the money

Easy to clean no need to be using a lot of paper towels when u just take a dirty out and put clean back in it cleans in seconds.

Another use for helpful Brooder Mat

Recently I got a new batch of young quail. Soon I noticed that one was missing all toes & part of his leg! I carefully inspected the injured bird to see that the wound had fully healed long before and was not fresh. However, he had trouble walking on the comfort plast flooring since one leg fell through with each step. I looked on the Hatching Time website & found the brooder mat which has solved this problem perfectly—no more stepping through the floor grid!! Thank you for providing this option which makes this young rooster’s life much more comfortable!

MUST BUY accessory

I have a few layers in my setup and currently 2 different sets of baby chicks at varying ages. These are really great to have the first week or so when your new baby checks are still getting acclimated to the brooder. Since they do get messy, I like to have a couple extra sets handy so I can easily swap them out with ones already clean. This gives me some time to clean the dirty ones and not be dependent on cleaning each one and replacing it right away. Thanks for selling your accessories separately for those of us who love keeping plenty of extras handy!

I wish they were easier

Worked well

The mats worked well. They were easy to take out and clean after my chicks were pooping on them all day. I recommend getting more than 1 set to make cleaning easier. FYI! - Each "layer" comes with 3 mats
