Quail Cage - 1 Layer

Simply impressed by the quality of plastic. Read some reviews here or there that suggested otherwise…well, it can’t get any better. Really nice cages guys.

These cages are great overall and I'm planning to get another layer. That said, I have suggestions.

Cons: The 2 gallon water tank is effectively only 1 gallon of usable water because the valve placement is halfway up because thr tank is so flat instead of taller. The placement of the tank on top of the cage(s) is precarious too and could benefit from a redesign. I also had a defective water cup that flooded the waste tray (ew), but they did replace it under the warranty. Oh, and my coturnix hens have messed up feet on the traditional flooring that I need to sort out. The jumbo quail girls' feet have been good on the jumbo floors, but the egg rollout isn't big enough for all the jumbo eggs. The assembly process is difficult too, especially **** in the steel bar supports, and it's very hard to disassemble if ever needed. A feature that is good is how they added removable dividers between sections, but be aware they are very challenging to insert and take out (like if you want to separate some birds temporarily).

Pros: the low waste feeder actually does surprisingly well. The daily maintenance is low and is usually very fast and easy. Tasks include filling water once a week, topping off food every few days, and emptying waste trays 1-2 times per week, plus egg collection. The compactness makes this a good way to keep quail when short on space and even for having them indoors (in a small room with an air filter on).

Despite the drawbacks, this makes keeping quail wonderfully convenient and easy! Hopefully Hatching Time will alter some of the design choices over time to further improve these cages.

We’ve owned our first unit for a year now and it’s holding up very well. We have housed both egg layers and breeders in this unit. The watering system is efficient and the trough with the grid prevents food waste.

Just purchased another unit in order to stack them. Very happy with hatching time products!

This is so easy to setup and clean. My girls and one boy are messy as you can see. The only thing that would be great addition is a single plastic divider. I used a piece of cardboard. I do this because when cleaning one section taking out mats, I don't want the chicks over there until I am done. Cardboard works but thought this would give hatchtime and idea for accessories.

I haven't assembled it yet.

Everything works great. Less wasted food and the water is clean. Going to get another soon. They started eating more at 6 weeks when they began to lay.

I am brand new to raising quail. This set-up provided everything I wanted to easily keep them healthy and happy! It was a little tricky to put together and I wish the manure tray was bigger as we do get some waste out the front of the cage. The assembly videos were very helpful! My quail adjusted to the new space quickly and are giving me beautiful eggs every day!

I was gifted 5 jumbo quail by a neighbor. He gave them to me in a rabbit cage. Once I decided to keep and breed them, I started looking at various quail cages. I like this one because it is modular and expandable. Once I hatch the eggs in the incubator and decided to keep going...I will be looking for more of these!

I really like that the tray for collecting **** was nice. Quails are never staying in messy cage. Another thing thatvI forgot to mention in my prisons post, I wish there would be some shade also a roof. You can't leave this cage outside if it will rain otherwise the quails and the food will get rained on. I would not recommend this cage or buy it again. It needs re-engineering.

Directions weren't clear when we were putting together. 1 door broke off on a 2nd day. We live in city, Sacramnto, California definatly not for our hot weather. The waterer stopped working 1 week in. We had them in the garage. When it got warmer we kept the quails outside. Because food is hanging out from the cage it attracts others like rats and something else. The eggs fall into the tray and some animal stole some of our eggs. Finlay, one day when we weren't home we came to a scene of one of the quails heads were bitten of by some animal and the other quail was dead as well. The cage is like a toy not ment for rainy season or to be kept outside.

I have purchased two quail cages now and I am very happy with them. They clean up very well, and were easy to build when I followed the video. I would definitely recommend these cages for people wanting to raise quail!

My quail have done amazing in these cages. They're easy to clean, move around and I can keep a close eye on my birds.

I made the very disappointed review as I was very angry that my initial shipment was missing pieces..On the positive side the support gentleman did go out of his to ensure I got my missing parts. I was very eager to get the cage and get my babies in it and I may have jumped the gun with my negative post. Their customer service was excellent and did make good on the situation. It was a slight inconvenience purchase w/confidence.

I order this cage on Saturday I got it in a reasonable. When I opened it I was missing pieces. I called customer service, a gentleman helped me and the package has been in awaiting to be picked up status for over 24 hr. Purchase with caution

Overall, the product is okay, but they made some errors in the packaging. The hose from the water tank to the first cage is short. Should be a little longer than the extensions. One of the cage walls pegs was not cut correctly and did not fit correctly, had to cut off the peg and use a zip tie.

Very hard to put together

This cage is ideal for keeping quail safe and healthy. It's easy to keep clean and the quail can eat and drink whenever they want. They love it! I love it! Got my first egg today!

My quails ad I love this cage. I keep one Jumbo Coturnix quail with three females per cage. In the winter I put a cup of water in each cage because the automatic watered freezes.

Great setup to save time cleaning, healthy and safe for the quails.
Easy to assemble, using basic tools.

Hatching time is the absolute best! This is the first time we have owned quails and love these little guys and gals. We wanted the perfect cage and so we purchased the one layer quail cage. At this time we own four quail, but wanted to be able to expand with another layer later on because quail eggs are delicious. We did need support in setting up the cage, so we spoke to Katrina and she was wonderful in helping us with everything. The support you receive from Hatching Time is awesome! I called Hatching Time before we ordered and after setting up the cage. You always speak to a real person and the emails are immediate and efficient. This is the best customer satisfaction company we have ever worked with! Anyhow, we love the cage and so do our quail. We decided to place our cage outside and made modifications (shelter from rain and predators). The cage makes it very easy to water, feed, and pick up the eggs. Everyone is happy. Anyhow, thank you Katrina and Hatching Time for making a super product for quail! You guys are the best!

Pros: The cage is functioning great! Waterer works great, the feed tray is amazing. Customer service was amazing when I had a damage issue upon arrival.
Cons: setup was a bit frustrating, once I figured out the cage I got it together without issues but the frame work was a different story.
We could not get the part of the frame with the wheels to attach to the rest. It’s like the grooves just didn’t match up no matter what we tried. We followed the directions to a T so I’m not sure what went wrong.
We are planning to purchase another cage.
