How do you know if you need a new one or something else is wrong with humidifier?

Hatching Time

The disks can last from 6 months to 18 moths depending upon usage and local water conditions. We recommend using distilled water. The disks will eventually need to be replaced . You can check the disk in the unit. If the disk is cracked or not producing water vapor then it needs to be replaced. The unit should produce water vapor when the control screen shows a yellow light, and the humisonic red light is on.

How often do these need changed?

Hatching Time

It depends on whether your area has soft water or hard water. Hard water causing lime build up. If your region has soft water the disk will last longer. Overall, we suggest every 6 months in regions with hard water or If you notice lime build up. and every year in regions with soft water.
