Perfect as it keeps the water from freezing. It does not heat up the water and if you place your palm on it: it is just luke warm and hence no burning your hand. I love the detachment point that allows you to keep the plug in place and yet disconnect when you don’t use it. Perfect design. I am just happy I am no longer need to chisel the ice!

Have used for several days where temperatures were 4 to 24 F . It kept water at a lukewarm temperature the entire day. I would have given it 5 stars except for the delicate power cord. I reinforced it with electrical tape where it connects n comes out of the unit since there was no stress relief. I thought it would break if I didn't

My girls prefer the plastic waterer with a basin. This is the only thing I found that that was compatible with them and would safely keep their water from freezing. It works well and has functioned in single digit temperatures. The only downside is that you can't hang the waterer and attach this as is or without some sort of modification.

These outlast any other brand that I have ever purchased. They do NOT cost a tons of money to run either. Very easy to use. Great quality product. Easy to clean.

I’ve tried quite a few heated water systems and this is by far my favorite. I only have a dozen chickens so I prefer to use my 1 gallon plastic containers as they are easy to handle. This heater kept water from freezing down to 10° so far! It gets warm, but not super hot, which is what made me nervous about others I have tried. Love this, going to get a few backups!

Despite any negative reviews, we have had nothing but good luck with these water heaters. Even at 8400' in the mountains of Colorado, it has kept most of the resevoir water unfrozen. Very pleased with this product.

Excellent product. Was super easy to assemble. Just had to place yellow clips on it. Worked immediately and is great at keeping the bird water from freezing. Fits multiple size containers.

I bought this over a year ago, and it worked great until the wire on the converter plug got frayed. I contacted the seller through Amazon and they sent me a new converter plug. Very satisfied.

Added insulation to the chicken waterer, and with the addition of this heater the water stayed ice free all winter. Will update this winter coming.

It worked great except for the thin wires. The chicken cut through the wire effortlessly. Needs to have a power wire cover for that protection. Otherwise, it kept the water bowl from freezing in 20degree weather.

Even freezing cold does not stop this heater outside no more frozen water for our chickens. Less trips out on us too.

I chose this heater because it could be used with a plastic waterer. One clip broke off after a few months' use...not a big deal, because the 3 clips do little to hold the heater on the waterer. I used this inside my coop this winter and it kept the water in the tray from freezing, but the higher water levels did have an ice skim on them when temps got into the teens. Overall it worked to provide drinkable water for my flock.

Unfortunately the power cord broke right after the return window closed, leaving it unusable. The seller said no problem to send a replacement cord, though. Great customer service :-)

Too large and not hot enough to keep the ice from freezing

I bought one of these for my chicken coop in 2020. I liked it so much that I bought another one in 2021 for different chicken coop. Then I bought yet another one in 2023 for another chicken waterer that I leave outside (as opposed to being in a coop) for when the birds are free-ranging. All three of the water heaters continue to work as intended. I've had zero issues with them over the 4 Virginia winters that I've had this product. I do recommend these. PROs...1) They are easy to setup. The yellow tabs on the top of the heater are easy to adjust to secure the chicken waterer itself.
2) Relatively low power consumption. These use MUCH less power than other chicken water heaters that I looked at. For comparison, these consume only 25 watts of power while every other chicken water heater I looked at consumes 60 - 250 watts of power!
3) Low risk of getting burnt. Other chicken waterers in metal housings that I've tested put out a lot more heat than is needed in my region. The surface of the metal gets so hot that it can burn your skin. I also worry about the associated fire risk, especially since I put dried pine shavings inside my chicken coops where the water heaters are kept.
4) The price of these in 2023 is $15.00 less than it was in 2020 during the COVID pandemic.
5) Durability and quality. The external housing on these is entirely plastic. Yet it's held up to the elements outdoors. Despite countless heating and cooling cycles, there are not cracks, warping, or discoloration from the heater itself or UV light from the sun. I've had zero issues with the 3 units I've been using for the last few years. CONs....
CONs....1. Constantly powered. Unlike many other chicken water heaters, there is no external temperature sensor to control when the heater is powered on/off. So, these heaters will stay powered on the entire time that they are plugged in. Where I live in central Virginia, Winter temperatures fluctuate a lot between both warm and cold. So, powering these heaters all the time that is completely unnecessary. To avoid having these on all of the time, I had to purchase a separate controller (Thermo Cube model TC-3) that will allow power to go the heater when temperatures are close to freezing but will block power to the heaters when it's warm outside.

I have had this a while, it has stood up better then expected to the winter weather.

The reason I bought this particular warmer was the clips that lock it to the base of the waterer. They were not included in the box.

Worked well until the court was eaten by the rats at night time that are living outside. Cord is way too thin. If it was a thicker cord, it would’ve been better.. does the job

So far, when the temperature has dipped down to freezing temperatures, this heater has worked well. We haven’t hit negative degree weather yet, so I am unsure of its use during extreme temperatures. I feel safe having this on in my coop because it doesn’t get extremely hot. I have been using my plastic waterer on it for months and it hasn’t melted the base. When the water was frozen in the waterer, it unthawed the water. I keep it sitting on a square, flat brick and it has been working well.

This has been a great product for our chickens, keeping they're water from freezing during this cold weather. Our Rooster even stood on it for warmth today when I refilled their water, as it wasn't so warm that it harmed him. I would highly recommend this product!

Haven't used yet, not cold enough yet. But I'm concerned on how it will stay plugged in. The connector does not lock together and with the chickens scratching around i can see it coming unplugged.

I have this for my waterer in the outside rabbit hutch and is does a great job keeping the water from freezing. I only gave it 4 stars because it doesn't really hold it in place very securely.

Works as advertised. Happy with purchase.
