Grow Out Pen - 2 Layer H:15"

The grow out pen went together ok. The directions could be a little more clear. I found YouTube videos to be extremely helpful! I was also missing the food tray grates but the were shipped to me.

I haven't got to use it yet. Construction is sturdy, goes together very easily and has more than enough room for chicks. Can't wait to use it.

This was well worth the investment. Easy to clean with a pressure washer, hygienic for our flock, and spacious. Highly recommend.

Easy to clean. Comfortable for quail. I will probably buy more. If I have to make complaints….The food tray is too low for my quail and the water bucket doesn’t sit well on top of the pen.

Very handy. Clean and easy chick rearing. But, I have struggled with getting the assembly just right. I can’t get the metal rods tight enough to keep the floor pieces from spreading out. And I can’t get the top frame seared down right.

The grow out pens were much easier to assemble than the brooder but I had the advantage of already assembling that. I do wish there was a way if you mix and match 3 stack - I ordered one brooder and 2 grow out pens that you could substitute the 5 gallon water instead of receiving the 2 gallon and needing to replace it. In the faq’s it mentions that for 3 or more you need 5 gallon for the pressure. They weren’t in stock when I ordered and fortunately I am only using the brooder first so I have time to order the larger waterer.

Some of the arrows never lined up only one piece of the grower pens but it was the same every unit. Even though I mention all of the above it’s
Just to help someone who is buying. I love the grow out pens and brooder. I feel like my chicks are getting the best start at life with consistent temperatures, food and water- in a safe space and minimized work for me. They are clean, warm and happy.

I think these plastic cages are better than some of the other options I looked at because the integration works really well, the size is appropriate, the are easy to clean. I recommend these to anyone

Had a minor issue. Katrina in customer service fixed it instantly. Very friendly. Love the quail pens!!!

Easy to clean and perfect for what I needed

I'm using this for Jumbo coturnix quail. I was able to move them into these pens at 3 weeks old. They were quite comfortable with the flooring spacing at that age, though I certainly would not put them in this any younger. I did need to force the water bar into a lower space than either of the designated locations, but this was not too difficult. The Jumbo quail had no trouble reaching the water in this modified position. I prefer this height over the official "quail" pens purely for visibility and ease of adding a dust bath container.

These are extremely easy to maintain. I empty the manuer trays 2x a week and simply wash with a high powered hose in between batches.

My only complaint would be the 2 gallon water tank. I purchased a 5 gallon tank which has lips/legs on the bottom that fit nicely in the top frame and keeps the tank firmly in place. The 2 gallon tanks do not have this. Also, I feel the waterers work better with the increased pressure from the 5 gallons.

I have 5 different pens from Hatching Time (1 quail brooder, 2 15"breeding pens, and these 2 15" grow out pens) Some of them have been very easy to put together, I did have one which was much tighter to fit together, a small rubber mallet was a finger-saver on that one. However I'm confident it will hold together!

Also of note: if you have looked at the Quail brooder and Quail grow out pens both have the hanging space for the heater. That is not true for this grow out pen, there is no built in hanging space for the heater in this pen.
