It is a two-level expansion module for a compatible Comfortplast brooder stack. Confirm the current frame, water supply, and final stack height before adding it to an existing system.

How many quail chicks can the double-layer addition hold?

The two added levels hold up to 30 quail chicks per level, or up to 60 total. Capacity should be reduced as birds grow or when breed, heat needs, or room conditions require more space.

What heating equipment comes with the double brooder addition?

Each level includes a 20-inch self-regulated heater and a thermometer. Two lightbulbs are required and sold separately; A19 LED Daylight bulbs are recommended.

Which birds are best suited to the 9.5-inch added levels?

The 9.5-inch height is best for quail, pheasant, partridge, and other small chicks under 5 inches tall. Use a 15-inch layer for chicken, duck, goose, or turkey chicks that need more headroom.

Can either added brooder level be divided?

No. The levels have open interiors and no divider is offered. A divider could block access to water or prevent chicks from moving away from the heater.

This brooder shines – literally, even when you don’t want it to.

Overall, it's a fantastic addition to my operation, making chick management much easier. The design is solid and comes with useful extras like waterers and floor mats. I skip the mats, transitioning chicks straight to the grated floor at two weeks old to avoid them falling into the feed pan and to maximize the grated design immediately. The main drawback is the heating element, which runs continuously. Since the light bulb is attached to it, the brooder stays lit 24/7 unless the bulb is manually unscrewed. To solve this, I installed LED Wi-Fi bulbs and set them on a timer, allowing me to turn off the light at night without affecting the heat. Since I place older chicks in the brooder, they handle the temperature just fine without additional light bulb heat.
The build quality matches other products I’ve used – sturdy but with room for improvement. Despite the lighting quirk, these brooders simplify daily care, and I’m overall very satisfied with their performance.

Plug n Play

This brooder is the whole package. Easy to clean. Temperature remains consistent. Allows for chick growth. I chose to use an inexpensive smart bulb for the lighting, so I could control when it comes on and turns off.

Wonderful product - Paper instructions are difficult

The Brooder itself once put together is wonderful. Easy to maintain and does its job well. Putting it together takes a while and the paper instructions can be misleading. The only issue I have had with the product is with the watering nipples leaking and needing to order more to stop this. I highly recommend this product!
